Dr John Chaplin has just returned from South Pacific ORL Forum Hawaii where he was involved with the head and neck surgery section of the meeting. His presentations included office based thyroid and neck ultrasound, nerve preservation in thyroid surgery, new published guidelines in the management of thyroid nodules and cancer and transoral surgery in throat cancer. John also chaired a session on salivary gland surgery and a debate on the role of immunization in the prevention

New thyroid course on Retrosternal Thyroid Goitre Monday March 27
John Had two visiting surgeons on Monday 27 March He did a total thyroidectomy for a large retrosternal thyroid goitre that had previously been attempted and abandoned at another hospital, a parathyroidectomy for a patient with hyperparathyroidism and a thyroid lobectomy for a large thyroid nodule.
